Preparation for the North Carolina Electrical
Contractors Board of examiners specialty license SP-PH that legally allows HVAC and
Plumbing contractors to perform limited electrical work on branch circuits
feeding plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment.

Contractors
in the HVAC or Plumbing service and replacement business need this license to
legally disconnect the branch circuit from the equipment. This class will focus
on the key items of the
2008 National Electrical Code and the North Carolina Board regulations to
prepare students to successfully pass the SP-PH license exam.
Note:
SP-PH applicants do not need a NC Plumbing or HVAC license to qualify for the
SP-PH Electrical license; eligibility requirement is three years of plumbing or
HVAC
field experience.
The
SP-PH Exam
is a
3-hour exam
administered after the one-day prep class at Pearson Vue Testing Centers across
North Carolina. Testing Centers are open from Monday through Saturday beginning
at 8:00 am.
The SP-PH License Application
is prepared and
forwarded to students upon enrollment in the SP-PH Exam Prep class.
The
Limited, Intermediate and Unlimited Exams
consist of 100
multiple choice
questions and each examinee will have a maximum time of
6 hours to complete the exam
at one of six Pearson Vue Assessment Centers across North Carolina. Testing
centers are open from Monday through Saturday beginning at 8:00 am. The
License Application are prepared and forwarded to students upon enrollment in an
Electrical License Exam Prep class.
